From dickpics to deepfakes
25.11.2025 | 17:00 (Admission:16:30)

On the International Day against Violence against Women and Girls, 25 November 2025, the hybrid Orange Days kick-off event entitled From Dickpics to Deepfakes - Recognising, naming and acting on digital violence against women will take place at The Hochschule Niederrhein.

The event is organised by the Equal Opportunities Officer of The Hochschule Niederrhein in cooperation with the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and the ZONTA Clubs Krefeld and Krefeld am Rhein.

Kathi Heffe from the non-profit organisation HateAid, an expert on digital violence, will give an insight into current developments, the work of counselling those affected and provide information on strategies for action. The focus will be on the challenge of visualising gender-specific digital violence in its various forms as a real form of violence that must be taken seriously and to name it clearly. The spectrum ranges from supposedly "everyday" assaults to new threats such as AI-generated, often pornographic, deepfakes. A practical orientation excursus shows how digital evidence is created in the form of legally compliant screenshots. In addition, concrete strategies for action are presented that take into account preventative as well as emotional and legal dimensions.

HateAid is a non-profit organisation that educates people about digital violence and develops solutions for a network in which freedom of expression is upheld and participation is made possible. Those affected by digital violence receive individual counselling and legal support from HateAid.

The hybrid format enables both personal participation on site and digital integration via Zoom. The event is free of charge for all participants.

Show attitude

Impulses for a courageous communication culture

In many professional contexts, we experience situations in which a clear stance is required. And yet it remains absent. In this online webinar, we will look at the psychological and structural reasons for silence in organisations and show what impact this has on culture and collaboration.

Together, we will reflect on personal experiences, analyse the dynamics behind a lack of positioning and develop concrete approaches for creating more clarity and courage, both individually and organisationally. We will look at different roles and perspectives and develop practical strategies for effective action with attitude.

The webinar is aimed at specialists and managers as well as anyone who wants to take responsibility and shape change in their professional environment.

Speaker: Tessa Koschig, criminal investigator, personality coach, psychological counsellor

Men, power & thought patterns
When the last woman leaves the room

A reading by Martin Speer

"This gender stuff is girl stuff." "We really do have more important problems than gender equality." "I'm not a sexist myself" Do statements like these sound familiar?

In their book "When the last woman leaves the room" (Ullstein), the two authors Vincent-Immanuel Herr and Martin Speer provide an insight into men's thoughts on the subject of gender equality. They show how deeply ingrained sexist patterns of thought and behaviour are, how we can question them and invite men to become allies for gender equality. This is not about guilt, but about an opportunity for joint progress and real change.

If you are interested in checking your own thought patterns, seeing through typical argumentation traps and seeing how you can take an active role for more gender equality, then this reading by Martin Speer is just right for you.

Martin Speer is a UN Women HeForShe Ambassador and was appointed to the Gender Equality Advisory Council of the G7 countries (GEAC) in 2022.

This event is organised for you by Gender Equality, Family Services and the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at The Hochschule Niederrhein.
