Opportunity for companies

Sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship have the opportunity to inspire our best-performing and most determined students to join their company. These are the students who, due to their outstanding performance profile, have secured their jobs before graduation. Especially in the area of recruiting and in view of the omnipresent shortage of skilled workers, the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship is a wonderful instrument for personnel planning.

Furthermore, sponsors benefit in the area of employer branding. They position themselves as a modern, progressive employer that plans for the long term, invests in its employees, participates in government programs and cooperates with universities. An attractive employer for ABraduates and experienced specialists alike.

They establish contact with the university and the faculties. For example, at the annual scholarship award ceremony. Benefit from the exchange between business and science.

Pioneers and trailblazers of dual studies

We are the pioneers and trailblazers of dual study with a tradition of over 30 years.

In addition to the classic dual programme of study in accordance with the Krefeld Model (training-integrated), further programmes of study (practice-integrated) have been introduced in recent years. The Hochschule Niederrhein offers a total of more than 15 dual degree programmes. Qualified junior staff are directly linked to the companies and already familiarised with the company work processes during their studies. Dual degree programmes are therefore an important instrument for companies to secure skilled workers for demanding target positions at an early stage - especially for small and medium-sized companies.

Studies & apprenticeship (IHK)

The dual studies in accordance with the Krefeld Model started in 1982 as a Cooperative Engineering Training (KIA). In the meantime, more than 20 apprenticeship occupations of the IHK/ HWK/ Steuerberaterkammer and other institutions can be combined with over 14 Bachelor's degree programmes.
This programme of study combines initial vocational training at a recognized training company and academic studies at the Hochschule Niederrhein. The goal is a double degree.
The mutual supplementation of practical-company content and application-oriented scientific studies optimally prepare students for the demands of the modern professional world.

Studies & practical phases

The trainee program for Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering combines scientific studies with regular practical phases in the company without accompanying vocational training.
The trainee phases are individually designed in the company according to study-relevant specialisations. Systematic apprenticeship and flexible intensive training, in some cases in very complex topics, over the entire duration of the study program enable qualified staff to be quickly recruited for a position with continuous retention.

Studies & apprenticeship diploma & master cra

The Triple study format Sk illed Trades Management - Business Administration enables the qualification and securing of the next generation of specialists and managers in the skilled trades sector.
During the studies, knowledge of the skilled trades and business administration are taught in equal measure. The aim is to obtain three degrees (apprenticeship diploma, master craftsperson's certificate (Meisterbrief), B.A.) in just one Degree programme. This means that specialists in the trade are trained while at the same time mastering extensive business management skills.
In addition, an early bond with the company providing the training is achieved. Initially, this Triple study program will only be combined with an apprenticeship as an electrician or carpenter. It is planned to expand the range to include other skilled trades.

Did you know?

All dual programmes of study are free of charge for companies at the Hochschule Niederrhein.
The companies only pay the collectively agreed wage. The students have to pay a semester fee once per semester, which is usually reimbursed by the companies.
For the phase after the apprenticeship, the company decides individually on further employment.
The selection of suitable candidates with a higher education entrance qualification is the responsibility of the companies. For some dual degree programmes, the training contract guarantees a place on the course (free of admission) and for others there is an admission restriction in the form of a numerus clausus.
At the same time, prospective students must apply online to the Hochschule Niederrhein for dual studies. After admission to the dual studies, the training contract must be submitted upon registration.
Compulsory vocational schooling is not normally required for dual students. The students must prepare independently, if necessary with the support of the companies, for the skilled worker examination before the chamber/institution. For individual Degree programmes, preparatory courses are offered by external institutions.
The specifics, deadlines, exam preparation courses, etc. are broken down for each degree format in the overview of dual degree programmes (see above). Additional information can be obtained from the respective contacts at the faculties.

Junior Staff Recruitment

The high practical content of our Degree programmes and the networking of the Hochschule Niederrhein, in particular with the regional economy, is our trademark. Companies and the university have always maintained an intensive dialogue. And we would like to expand this. For strategic recruitment and your employer branding, the faculties offer a wide range of opportunities.

Practical phases, student research projects and theses
The internship semester/the practical phase is an integral part of many of our Degree programmes. Students are given a specific task and are introduced to their future professional activities through practical work in companies or other professional institutions. As a company, you offer students the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies to date, to reflect on new practical experiences and to make them useful for the subsequent phase of their studies.

Job openings for students and graduates
Benefit from the know-how of our students, already during their studies and of course afterwards.

University magazine NIU
Our magazine is aimed at friends and sponsors of the university from business and politics, as well as our alumni. NIU reaches over 10,000 people from the region. Take advantage of the opportunity for a full-page advertisement.

Formula Student
The Formula Student racing series is an interdisciplinary success project of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering. For more than 10 years, a race has been held on the legendary Hockenheim Ring. The students design, build and market the race cars on their own. You have the opportunity to support this project as a sponsor.

Service for companies: Transfer

Companies must face the ever-increasing demands of the market and accept this challenge. Increasing competitive pressure requires new ways to secure growth. To maintain their market position, entrepreneurs are forced to expand their product range or to develop and occupy new markets with new products.
At the same time, companies are faced with the challenge of making production more economical and using new technologies to produce more cost-effectively. Qualified employees play an important role in the fast and effective use of new machines and processes.
Time is an important factor in this process, because too much hesitation or too long start-up times can mean loss of market advantages. Shorter product life cycles also mean shorter utilization times, and payback must be achieved through market share rather than price.
A successful way to achieve the desired entrepreneurial goals is to find solutions together with competent partners.

Innovation is a call for dialogue and cooperation
The Hochschule Niederrhein offers a wide range of know-how as a cooperation partner to support the innovation process in companies. A large number of professors are available to companies to help solve their problems:

  • Developments that would tie up too much capacity in the companies can be given to the university as research and development projects.
  • Delimited, manageable questions can be worked on as diploma theses.
  • Consultations, expert opinions and continuing training are offered by professors.
  • Facilities and laboratories can be used for measuring and testing purposes.

The Department of Research and Transfer is the institution of the Hochschule Niederrhein that helps companies to make use of the professors' knowledge for their business. It helps to find the right expert for open questions and mediates interdisciplinary processing for complex problems.

Foundation Chairs

The establishment of endowed chairs/professorships at the Hochschule Niederrhein expands the teaching and research offerings and establishes important, forward-looking research directions at the university. Endowed chairs and professorships create a special relationship between the sponsor, the university and the faculty members. This can be expressed in the fundamental orientation of the chair's work as well as in practice-oriented research work, in joint student projects and in the ongoing exchange of experiences.
It is also possible to jointly fund a chair/professorship with other sponsors.
In addition to funding human resources, other options include funding the position of an academic staff memberor expanding the chair's infrastructure (e.g., seminar room equipment).
