Student applicants:inside in top-class sport

Reconciling academic apprenticeship and a top sports career is a particular challenge. That's why The Hochschule Niederrhein offers support options for dual careers in North Rhine-Westphalia.

These include:

  • Individual Student Advice
  • Student Degree Programme Counselling on the basis of sports planning

As part of the selection process for Degree programmes with local admission restrictions, the HSNR has determined that A-, B-, C- and D/C-squad athletes from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (Spitzenverbände) will be given priority for admission.

German University Championship

DHM

The German University Championships (DHM) are the flagship of university sports at national level. Every year, the adh organizes around 40 German University Championships in over 30 sports.

The special feature of a DHM is that hobby and amateur athletes compete together with squad athletes. Furthermore, it is not only about the pure performance comparison on a high level, but also about combining aspects of competitive sports with student interests in meeting, communication and exchange.

The German University Championships are organized by the adh member universities throughout Germany and enable students and staff to participate as individual starters or in teams.

German University Cup

DHP

Originating from the German University of Applied Sciences Championship and the adh Cup, the German University Cup (DHP) has been organized since 2011 especially for all smaller universities up to 10,000 students as well as for universities of applied sciences in the four major game sports.

The German University Cup Basketball, Football, Handball and Volleyball is organized by the adh member universities as a nationwide event; usually on a weekend in the summer semester.

adh-Open

The adh-Open is a national competition for sports that are not in the adh sports canon and therefore cannot host German University Championships. adh-Open are offered when university competitions have already taken place in the respective sport on a supra-regional level and it is clear from the participation that there is great interest among students in national competitions. Furthermore, the adh-Open serves as a reference event for sports that aspire to be included in the adh sports canon. Only when two adh-Open have been hosted in a sport in two consecutive years by two different member universities, an inclusion of this sport in the adh-Sportartenkanon can be applied for.

In some individual sports, however, the adh-Open has also established itself as a further competition level below the German University Championships, where the idea of performance is less important. One of the classics among the adh-Open is, for example, the surfing event in the south of France. Also in the sports fistball, floorball and flagfootball adh-Open took place regularly in the past years.

It goes without saying that in addition to lots of sports, a varied supporting program awaits the participants!

adh-Trophy

Fancy some unconventional competitions in special sports? Since many university sports facilities offer trendy and fun sports in their semester programs, the adh also has suitable competition events for them.

The adh-Trophy events are among the youngest in the adh competition program. Since the summer semester 2008 students and staff of large as well as smaller universities and universities of applied sciences can participate. Thereby the fun is unrestrictedly in the foreground!
