Students master EUREX certified exchange trader examination for the last time

Press release, December 20, 2022

3 hours of time, 125 questions, 6 certificates: Six students from the Hochschule Niederrhein have failed the examination to become EUREX derivatives traders. This corresponds to a pass rate of 100 percent. This means they all have an official Deutsche Börse certificate in their pocket.

Prof. Dr. Bernd Müller prepared the students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics for this voluntary additional qualification. "They've been working their tails off all night. Learning for this in addition to their studies and part-time jobs requires a lot of motivation and discipline," says Prof. Dr. Müller, who teaches general business administration with a specialisation in finance.

The certificate now attests to the participants' "very advanced knowledge in the derivatives area - comparable to the knowledge that someone who does this professionally has."

Prof. Dr. Müller is all the more disappointed that Deutsche Börse is closing its Capital Markets Academy on December 31, thus ending the long-standing cooperation with the university.
The notice was received just a few weeks before the examination. He regrets not only the short notice of this decision, but above all the fact that this recognized continuing education offering in the German financial segment is being discontinued altogether. "Studies have shown that half of the respondents feel it is important to know about finance. This step of closure therefore does not fit the times." There has been no information about the reasons for the closure.

Caroline Judith Mann and Jonathan Hausmann are glad to be part of the last cohort that had the chance to get this certificate. Both praise the university for the good preparation. "I had an early interest in financial markets. The certificate is an added value for my resume," Hausmann describes his motivation. With 91 percent of questions answered correctly, the 25-year-old had the best exam result.

Just like him, Caroline Judith Mann can also imagine gaining a professional foothold in the financial market. "For me, it is a great honor to belong to the last generation to be able to obtain such a certificate," says the 21-year-old.
