Master's admission procedure

In the download section on the right, you will find all the information and regulations regarding the admission process for the master’s programs in “Textile Produkte” and “Management of Textile Trade and Technology.”

Please note that you are only eligible to apply if you have earned a bachelor’s degree in textile or apparel engineering, or in textile or fashion design.

For the “Textile Produkte” master’s program, in addition to the bachelor’s degree, you must submit a letter of motivation with a tabular resume, as well as an R&D project outline. For each of these three components, an examination committee consisting of two faculty members from the department awards points ranging from 0 to 20. The points are added together.

The topic of the R&D project may be selected from a list published by the department. The topics can be found in the download section.

For the Master’s program “Management of Textile Trade and Technology,” in addition to a Bachelor’s degree, you must provide proof of a Bachelor’s thesis or a final project worth 12 ECTS credits. A letter of motivation and an R&D project outline are no longer required.

Online application is required. Please refer to the Student Office website for all deadlines regarding the submission of documents. It is generally possible to submit bachelor’s degree certificates at a later date. Please contact the Student Office for details.

Admission criteria:

Textile products

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

The following applies to the German Master's degree programme "Textile Products":

  • At least 5 points must be achieved in each sub-area.
  • If the total score is below 21, admission to the Master's programme is not granted.
  • If the total score is 31 or more, admission is granted.
  • If the total number of points is between 21 and 30, the final decision on admission is made after an oral interview with the examination board.

Management of Textile Trade and Technology

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

The following applies to the English Master's degree programme "Management of Textile Trade and Technology":

  • In addition to the Bachelor's degree, proof of a Bachelor's thesis or final project worth 12 ECTS credits must be provided.
  • Proof of sufficient knowledge of the English language by means of a certificate at level C1 according to the Common European Framework (CEF), unless the studies leading to the first professionally qualifying university degree were already taught in English.
