399 first-year students start the summer semester

Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. 399 young people began their studies at the Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) today. Traditionally, enrollment numbers are significantly lower for the summer semester, as it is primarily Master's degree programmes that start. Only the Faculties of Business Administration and Economics and Health Care also start some Bachelor programs. Seventeen people opted for the newly introduced orientation semester in the engineering sciences of chemistry, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical/process engineering and industrial engineering.

"We are pleased that almost 400 young people have decided to study at our university. Our claim is: Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way. With us, students are not an anonymous number, but we maintain personal contact in the faculties. In addition, we want to provide our students not only with professional skills, but also with key qualifications such as teamwork and project management skills and competencies in the areas of sustainability and digitalization. We want to enable them to become strong personalities in our society so that they can actively shape the future," says university president Dr. Thomas Grünewald.

Of the 229 first-year students in the Bachelor's program, 159 are enrolled in the career-integrated degree programmes in Business Administration, Taxation and Auditing, and Business Information Systems. These Degree programmes are all based at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in Mönchengladbach. In Krefeld, 53 first-year students are starting on the Degree programmes in Applied Therapeutic Sciences and Nursing at the Faculty of Health Care.

For the first time, registration was possible for the orientation semester. During this time, students are to find out whether they feel comfortable in their chosen Degree programme. It is aimed in particular at those who have first taken a different path after leaving school and have spent a year working and traveling abroad or doing a voluntary social year.

In the Master's area, exactly 24 Degree programmes with 170 students will start in the summer semester of 2023. Among them, the Master Management of Textile Trade and Technology taught in English at the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology and the Master Business Management at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics have the highest number of registrations.
