514 students start their journey at HSNR in the summer semester

514 students have registered at The Hochschule Niederrhein for the summer semester.

The Hochschule Niederrhein began the 2024 summer semester last Monday. A total of 514 students registered in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. That is almost 100 more than in the previous summer semester. Traditionally, enrolment figures are significantly lower in the summer semester, as it is mainly Master's degree programmes that start.

There has been a particularly large increase in the orientation semester for the technical sciences of chemistry, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical/process engineering and industrial engineering. In this format, young people can take courses in all technical fields and find out which subject suits them best. In the summer semester of 2024, 80 people opted for this option, compared to 17 last year.

"In recent years, we have had to cope with a continuous decline in enrolment numbers for various reasons. I am therefore all the more pleased that the trend has been halted for the time being this summer semester. The good figures in the technical sciences orientation semester show that we have met the tastes of the target group. Now we have to help young people decide on the right educational path for them at The Hochschule Niederrhein. As our claim 'Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.', we wanted to help students find their own path with us. The orientation semester is a good starting point for this," says Dr. Thomas Grünewald, President of The Hochschule Niederrhein.

Of the 331 first-semester Bachelor's students, 202 are on the Business Administration, Career-Integrated Studies, Business Administration, Taxation and Auditing and Business Information Systems degree programmes. These degree programmes are all based at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in Mönchengladbach. In Krefeld, 49 first-semester students are starting the Applied Therapeutic Sciences and Nursing degree programmes at the Faculty of Health Care.

In the Master's area, exactly 24 degree programmes with 183 students will start in the 2023 summer semester. Among them, the Master's in Management of Textile Trade and Technology taught in English at the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology and the Master's in Business Management at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics have the most registrations.
