710 students start the summer semester at HSNR

Mönchengladbach/ Krefeld. The summer semester at The Hochschule Niederrhein has begun. A total of 710 students have registered in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. This represents a significant increase for the university compared to the previous year. Enrolment figures are traditionally lower in the summer semester than in the winter semester, as it is mainly Master's degree programmes that start.

"The rising enrolment figures in business-related and technology-oriented degree programmes clearly show that we are on the right track with our profile. Topics such as digitalisation, IT security and global markets continue to gain in importance," says University President Professor Susanne Meyer.

Of the 467 first-semester students in the Bachelor's degree programme, 318 are studying Business Administration, Taxation and Auditing and Business Information Systems. These degree programmes are all based at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in Mönchengladbach. In Krefeld, 25 first-semester students are starting the Applied Therapeutic Sciences degree programme at the Faculty of Health Care. 124 people have registered for the orientation semester of the Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical and Process Engineering and Industrial Engineering programmes.

A total of 23 degree programmes with 243 students will start in the summer semester 2026. Among them, the Master's degree programme in Management of Textile Trade and Technology taught in English at the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology and the Master's degree programmes in Business Management and Business Information Systems at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics have the highest number of registrations. The Master's in Cyber Security Management also continues to be in high demand and emphasises the growing importance of digital security topics.
