Food culture is the focus of the next Design Discussion at The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR). On Thursday, January 11, Prof. Dr. Erik Schmid, Dean of the Faculty of Design, will be discussing the topic with Lisa Freyschmidt from 8 pm at Fabrik Heeder, Virchowstraße 130.
She has been a professor of ceramics, porcelain and glass design at the HSNR for a year and was previously Head of Design at Kahla, a leading manufacturer of porcelain.
With the Hyperlokal in summer 2023, she worked with design students and a star chef to create a completely new kind of social-culinary dining experience. The students made matching tableware for various dishes and built furniture that could be transported by bicycle in an environmentally friendly way.
Freyschmidt and Schmid talk about the connection between design and food, which goes far beyond packaging and tableware - and reaches deep into our consciousness, our psyche and our cultures. Admission to the event is free. Registration is not required.
