Study design: HSNR offers portfolio advisory service before aptitude test

The Hochschule Niederrhein offers portfolio advisory services for the Communication and Product and Object Design degree programs.

The Hochschule Niederrhein's Faculty of Design in Krefeld has been providing apprenticeships to designers for 120 years. Anyone who decides to study design at the Krefeld West campus for the winter semester 2024/2025 must first pass the artistic-design aptitude test. This is a prerequisite for the two Bachelor's degree programmes in Communication Design and Product and Object Design. Now it's time for the final spurt: the registration deadline for the examination is March 15.

After the application deadline, applicants will receive an invitation to the aptitude test at the beginning of April, where they will have to present an informative portfolio of independent work. This can be photographs, sketches, drawings, paintings, models or digital media.Anyone who impresses with their work and passes the examination can register for their desired degree program at the Faculty of Design.

To help prospective students prepare their own portfolio in advance, the Faculty of Design offers free portfolio advisory services for Communication Design and Product and Object Design. At these appointments, prospective students can show their sketchbooks, drawings and works - even if they have already applied for the aptitude test. Teaching educators advise on the course of study and give advice on how to improve the portfolio.

Design lab for high school students

As part of the Easter holiday campus from April 4 to 5, the Faculty of Design is offering interested students an additional opportunity to experience the degree programs on site. The "designkrefeld designlab" for pupils from grade 11 onwards will take place from 10 am to 4 pm. There is a maximum of 20 places and registrations are now being accepted.
