Where do young people find support today? The Hochschule Niederrhein's Faculty of Design is presenting the exhibition "What holds us" in cooperation with the City of Krefeld's cultural office. The works of students of photography can be seen on 19 and 26 April in the Pförtnerloge studio at the Heeder factory as part of the Krefeld studio exhibition.
Social changes, global crises and the constant presence of social media characterise the attitude to life of many young people. Familiar certainties are being shaken and questions of origin, identity and belonging are becoming increasingly important. The exhibition picks up on these developments and makes them the starting point for artistic exploration.
As part of the "designkrefeld - visible" format, seven students of photography approach the topic from a personal perspective. In their photographic series, they deal with family of origin, gender roles and cultural imprinting and search for orientation between past, present and future.
The participants are Aliza Malin Gebauer, Luisa Lübke, Charlene Engelberg, Sinem Cay, Tembela Toto Kiesa, Jule Schmidt and Lys Damanik. The works were compiled by professor Paula Markert.
The exhibition is open on 19 and 26 April 2026 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pförtnerloge studio at the Heeder factory in Krefeld.
