How must the energy supply of my property be designed so that it makes a noticeable contribution to reducing energy requirements andCO2 emissions and will still be state of the art in 20 years' time? Michael Metz, managing director of Feldmühle Immobilien GmbH in Viersen, and Egon Rive, managing director of E. Rive Handel GmbH und Co. KG in Korschenbroich, asked themselves this question - and have since received answers. Both companies operate industrial parks with individual utilization options, and both have opened their doors to students from the Hochschule Niederrhein to promote their efficiency projects as part of holistic energy supply concepts.
The "Efficiency.Innovators" project, an offer from the Mittlerer Niederrhein Chamber of Industry and Commerce in cooperation with the Hochschule Niederrhein, put both companies in touch with Professor Jörg Meyer, head of the SWK E² - Institute of Energy Technology and Energy Management. The task was concretized, possible solutions and concepts were developed, which were then documented in detail and technically and economically evaluated. The project phase was concluded with the handover of the documents and the final presentation. "The extensive objectives were ideally suited for project assignments, which were worked on by several students of the Master's degree programme in energy management engineering," explains Professor Meyer.
