Exhibition: HSNR design students showcase their work at the Krefeld Art Association

Around 100 works by 30 students will be on display from 6 November to 17 January, including etchings, intaglio prints and lithographs.

Anyone interested can now see for themselves just how diverse the creativity of the design students at the Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) is at the Krefelder Kunstverein, 124 Westwall: From 6 November to 17 January 2027, the exhibition ‘Eindrucksvoll’ will showcase around 100 of their works, created using various graphic techniques and at different stages of development. Everything is included, from preliminary sketches to prints of etchings, linocuts, woodcuts, lithographs and screen prints (serigraphs). Admission is free.

The Faculty of Design’s Artistic Printmaking Workshop was established over 20 years ago and has been gradually expanded – despite, or perhaps precisely because of, the ongoing digitalisation, which has led to this traditional craft increasingly being regarded as outdated. “We have taken a different path because we are convinced that analogue practice is indispensable when teaching creative working processes. With a wide variety of techniques, printmaking offers ideal scope for the development of individual visual concepts,” says Jochen Stücke, professor of Drawing, Illustration and Artistic Printmaking.

Over time, exemplary works from the courses have been publicly presented under the title ‘Krefelder Grafik-Edition’; since 2023, the students’ works have also been on display at the Krefelder Kunstverein.
