Looking for an unusual gift that may only be available once? Then head to the "designkrefeld wunderbar" organised by the Faculty of Design at the "Made in Krefeld Special" (MIKS) Christmas market on Dionysiusplatz. From 1 to 7 December, design students from The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) will be presenting very special objects to give as gifts or keep for yourself.
The students from the Product and Object Design and Communication Design degree programmes can be found on the southern Dionysiusplatz in the "designkrefeld wunderbar". There they offer a creative range of products, unique items and small series. For example, there are fine porcelain pieces from the "Tabletop & Textile" and "faktorei21" projects, which are not only real eye-catchers on the Christmas dinner table. There is also a Christmas cup from this year's Christmas market cup competition. From the field of printmaking, the students will be bringing along lino prints - including with Krefeld motifs - as well as screen prints and risographs. Unique Christmas cards as well as other paper works and stationery will come from the printing workshop.
MIKS visitors to "designkrefeld wunderbar" will also find books and booklets from the "designkrefeld edition": these are high-quality print projects that deal with themes such as "chance", "language" or "colour" in both design and text. The latest project is "Gedankensplitter": the sophisticatedly designed book provides a brief insight into the big questions of philosophy. Fourteen students have engaged with more or less well-known philosophers in order to make them and some of their ideas accessible. A special gift for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the universe of asking questions and thinking about the world.
