The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) Faculty of Business Administration and Economics invites you to the next expenditure of the "Banking & Finance" forum. On Wednesday, 19 November 2025, starting at 6 p.m. in the main auditorium (Webschulstraße 41-43, Mönchengladbach), the topic "Founding and financing the social enterprise Plastic Fischer - a business model with impact" is on the agenda.
The event is organised by Dr Bernhard Müller, Professor of General Business Administration, in particular Finance. Admission is free of charge. External guests are requested to register by e-mail at forum_bankingandfinance(at)hs-niederrhein.de.
As part of the forum, the HSNR is welcoming a CEO of a social enterprise for the first time this year. Karsten Hirsch, founder and managing director of Plastic Fischer GmbH from Cologne, will present his company's innovative concept. Plastic Fischer has set itself the task of developing cost-effective and scalable solutions to stop plastic waste in rivers before it reaches the oceans. So far, Plastic Fischer's global initiatives have prevented more than two million kilograms of plastic from entering the world's oceans.
In his presentation, Hirsch will explain what motivated him and his team to found Plastic Fischer, the financial and organisational challenges involved in setting up the social enterprise and how the company intends to implement further projects to combat plastic in the future. He will also shed light on the role and importance of social enterprises in the current economic system.
