From technology to design: Girls' and Boys' Day at The Hochschule Niederrhein

On the nationwide Girls' and Boys' Day on 3 April 2025, The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) will open its doors to pupils from the 8th grade onwards. At the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach locations, those interested can get a taste of various faculties and experience the world of studies and work up close. Around 60 places are still available for girls and boys.

Old plastic equals rubbish? At the Faculties of Engineering and Computer Science, girls have the opportunity to create something new from supposed waste. Things get creative at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering: Here, girls can turn their own 3D scans into a wooden work of art.

In the Skills Lab of the Applied Midwifery Science degree programme, boys can learn all about birth. The innovative teaching and learning centre allows them to immerse themselves in the day-to-day work of a midwife. In the workshop "CGI - 3D Visualisation and Animation" at the Faculty of Design, boys practise the principles of three-dimensional, computer-aided visualisation and animation with the "Keyshot" program.

In total, the HSNR, supported by equal opportunities, offers 16 different programmes in six faculties and the library for over 180 pupils. Lunch is provided in the canteen for longer events.

Girls' and Boys' Day aims to break down prejudices and make it easier for students to choose their studies and careers. Girls who are interested in technical and scientific degree programmes and careers can, for example, visit the faculties of Engineering and Computer Science as well as Business Administration and Economics. Boys are introduced to faculties in which men are less likely to be found, such as Design, Faculty of Food and Nutrition Sciences or Ecotrophology.

Further information on the HSNR's Girls' and Boys' Day programmes can be found on the Hochschule Niederrhein website at www.hs-niederrhein.de/girls-day and www.hs-niederrhein.de/boys-day. Interested parties can only register via the Girls' Day or Boys' Day radar. Further information on registration can be found at: www.girls-day.de and www.boys-day.de.
