Girls' and Boys' Day 2024 at The Hochschule Niederrhein

On April 25, pupils can take part in Girls' and Boys' Day at The Hochschule Niederrhein. The faculties have put together a varied program for the girls and boys with the support of Equal Opportunities.

On the nationwide Girls' & Boys' Day, pupils have the opportunity to spend a day getting a taste of the world of work in companies, institutions or clubs. This is intended to help them discover their own interests. The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) is once again taking part this year and will be opening its doors on Thursday, April 25, at the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach campuses for those interested from the 8th grade upwards. The focus of this year's activities will be on design. Around 30 places are still available for girls and boys.

CGI, virtual and mixed reality - students can immerse themselves in other worlds and create their own digital art by designing photorealistic images and products. In the "Hot Colors: Enameling" workshop, participants can design and make their own jewelry, which they can then take home with them. The "Internet of Things" lab is all about the smart home. Here, students gain insights into how smart homes work and can build their own sensors, which are then tested in the lab.

In total, the HSNR, supported by equal opportunities, provides 21 offers for 226 students at ten faculties, two university institutes and the library. For longer events, there is the option of eating lunch together in the canteen.

The aim of Girls' and Boys' Day is to break down prejudices and barriers when it comes to choosing studies and careers. Girls who are interested in degree programmes and careers in the technical and scientific fields can, for example, visit an offer from the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mechanical and Process Engineering or Industrial Engineering. Boys are introduced to faculties in which men are less likely to be found, such as Design, Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology or the Faculty of Food and Nutrition Sciences. There are also further offers in the Faculties of Applied Social Sciences, Business Administration and Economics and Health Care.

Further information on the HSNR's Girls' and Boys' Day offers can be found on the Hochschule Niederrhein website at www.hs-niederrhein.de/girls-day and www.hs-niederrhein.de/boys-day. Those interested can only register via the Girls' Day or Boys' Day radar. Further information on registration can be found at: www.girls-day.de and www.boys-day.de.
