Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
The Hochschule Niederrhein took part in CleanUp Day in Krefeld and spring cleaning in Mönchengladbach.

HSNR staff and students remove 50 bags of garbage around the campus

In Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, around 80 university members took part in the municipal waste collection campaigns.

The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) is getting to grips with litter: equipped with bin bags, gloves and tongs, around 80 employees and students lent a helping hand during the semester break: On Thursday, they removed litter lying around on paths, squares and in nature. The HSNR thus joined the two municipal campaigns "Spring Cleaning" in Mönchengladbach and "CleanUp Day" in Krefeld, which actually took place two days later for citizens. However, as the university is closed at the weekend, HSNR and the cities coordinated and brought forward the waste collection campaign for university members.

The hard-working helpers found lots of garbage on and around the two campuses in Krefeld South Campus and Mönchengladbach, including plastic waste of all kinds, various cigarette butts and even a ladder. In the end, 50 bags of garbage were collected.

"Today we can once again see how much fun many of us have helping out when it comes to setting an example for more sustainability. At the same time, this joint campaign demonstrates our close ties with the cities of Krefeld and Mönchengladbach," says HSNR Sustainability Officer Dr. Dorothee Renker.

The sustainable development of HSNR is firmly anchored in the sustainability strategy. In order to achieve this goal, each and every individual can make a small contribution. One way to do this is to take part in joint sustainability campaigns. CleanUp Day or spring cleaning not only reduces the impact on the environment, but also promotes exchange and strengthens the sense of community.
