HSNR Racing team presents new "RS-25e" racing car

The Hochschule Niederrhein's (HSNR) Formula Student racing team "HSNR Racing" has presented its new racing car "RS-25e" to the public. Numerous guests, including proud parents, team sponsors and many former team members, came to Krefeld for the unveiling of the vehicle.

As in the previous year, the team is once again focussing on an electrically powered racing car. "Our goal this season is to further develop last year's concept so that we can finally compete against other teams on the track," says Finn Janzik, Technical Director of the team.

For the upcoming races in Most (Czech Republic, 4 to 9 August) and Hockenheim (18 to 24 August), the "RS-25e" has undergone extensive technical revisions. In the drivetrain, the battery container has been converted to a lighter design, saving around five kilograms. In addition, the planetary gearbox, which had not yet been tested in competition last year, was further optimised. The cell holders have also been revised - with the aim of reducing the number of components, weight and costs.

The electronics structure has also been simplified: the wiring harness is now slimmer, partly due to the elimination of superseal connectors. Instead, a standardised communication board is used, which provides a better overview.

Savings were also made on the chassis, but not in terms of stability: several tubes with little influence on frame rigidity were removed, which required a complete restructuring of the rear of the vehicle. The existing aerodynamic package was adapted to the new frame and additional elements were added to the front and rear wings.

In the international racing series Formula Student, around 600 university teams worldwide compete for pole position with their self-developed and designed vehicles. It's all about acceleration, speed, endurance, cornering behaviour, production and economic aspects such as a business plan.
