No boredom during the vacations: MINT workshops for children and young people

The fall vacations are just around the corner and while many are looking forward to a relaxing break, the MINT in Mind project offers an exciting change of pace. Under the motto "Colorful STEM", the project invites pupils to get to know the STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) in the Middle Lower Rhine region in a fun way.

On their own or together with friends, children and young people can try out various STEM courses - often free of charge. In addition to exciting experiences and new knowledge, lots of great things can be created and taken home.

In the two-day "Film meets Thread" workshop (October 14 and 15, 9 am - 4:30 pm) at the German Textile Museum in Krefeld, two worlds meet: weaving and filmmaking. Under guidance, participants can create their own works of art and films.

The two-day course "Robot Creative Workshop with Lego Prime" will take place in the Krefeld media library on October 15 and 16 (10 am - 3 pm). Girls and boys can build their own robots and fantasy vehicles and bring them to life with the help of programming.

Mönchengladbach's Team-Craft leisure center will be hosting the "LED lamp construction" workshop. Participants can make their own decorative lamps here. The course takes place daily from October 14 to 18 from 10 am to 3:30 pm.

The JuniorUni Mönchengladbach offers numerous courses during the fall vacations. Among other things, biology enthusiasts will learn everything there is to know about fungi in the "Fungi Jungle" course (October 8, 4-5:30 pm). In the workshop "Intaglio printing: from paper scooping to the finished print" (October 14 to 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily), creative minds can learn about the trade of intaglio printing and create their own designs and prints.

The Hochschule Niederrhein's (HSNR) autumn holiday campus is also part of the MINT in Mind autumn holiday program. Among other things, those interested can take part in the Coding School, a textile workshop on the foundation course of weaving or the "Academy of Magic Students".

All offers and details about the workshops can be found at: www.mint-in-mind.de. The joint project MINT in Mind is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is based at the A.U.G.E. Institute of the HSNR.
