Experience creativity and technology: Easter holiday campus for pupils at the HSNR

During the Easter holidays, pupils from the 7th grade onwards can register for exciting and free projects at the Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. Whether programming, technical textiles or 3D design - there is something for everyone!

The popular "Coding@HSNR" workshop will be offered twice: from 14 to 17 April in Krefeld and from 22 to 25 April in Mönchengladbach. In Krefeld, the focus will be on Raspberry Pi programming, where participants will learn programming languages such as Python and C. There will also be exciting content on artificial intelligence and the popular game "Hack-me-if-you-can". In Mönchengladbach, participants immerse themselves in the world of web development. Step by step, they will programme their own projects such as simple games or web apps. There will also be insights into virtual reality and cybersecurity. No prior knowledge is required for either course.

How is caffeine extracted from coffee? This question will be answered in the workshop "The Chemistry of Everyday Life" (15 April) in the Quanti Lab of the Chemistry Department. Sixth form students will discover and extract everyday substances such as minerals in water or oils from plants.

From 16 to 17 April, the "Designlab" of the Design department will take place. Participants will gain an insight into the study options and degree programmes in communication design as well as project and object design. In addition to a tour of the campus, they can work together with students and lecturers on a mini-project, which they present at the end. The programme is aimed specifically at sixth form students.

On 22 April, sixth form students can build their own smart home applications in the workshop "The world of smart technology". They will learn how devices communicate with each other and develop an application that measures temperature or movement, for example.

In the workshop "Hands-on technology - your introduction to 3D design" (24 April), pupils develop their own wheel rim for the remote-controlled racing car WING-Racer and gain an insight into the industrial engineering degree programme.

At the "Open Wardrobe Day" (24 April) at the Mönchengladbach campus, pupils can find out how technical textiles are manufactured for products such as motorbike helmets, bullet waistcoats, airbags and firefighter clothing.

All offers are free of charge, registration is required. Details on all programmes, information on venues and registration at https://www.hs-niederrhein.de/osterferiencampus.
