New University Council at The Hochschule Niederrhein

The Hochschule Niederrhein has a new university council. Yesterday evening, the eight members received their certificates of appointment from Ina Brandes, Minister for Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The constituent meeting of the new University Council then took place. It consists of five external and three internal members.

The Hochschule Niederrhein was able to recruit a total of three new external members for the board: Caroline Hartmann-Serve (Managing Director of the Hartmann Computer Center), former Olympic athlete Maximilian Hartung (Managing Director of the NRW Sports Foundation) and Dr. Armin Knors (Head of Engineering & Technology Bayer AG) are joining for the first time. Kerstin Abraham (Director of Stadtwerke Krefeld) and Dr. Sabine Helling-Moegen (Administrative Director of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases) remain on board.

The long-standing Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Dieter Porschen (former Chief Executive Officer of the Mittlerer Niederrhein Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Jutta Zülow (Chairman of the Board of Zülow AG) and Dr. Norbert Miller (Chairman of the Management Board of Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH) have left the Council.

There was also a change in the three internal members of the University Council. New members are Professor Dr. Thomas Meuser (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science), Professor Dr. Kerstin Plüm (Faculty of Design) and Professor Dr. Maike Rabe (Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology). They succeed Professor Dr. Katrin Nihalani (Faculty of Health Care), Professor Dr. Harald Vergossen (Faculty of Applied Social Sciences) and Professor Dr. Dieter Wälte (Faculty of Social Sciences).

The Hochschule Niederrhein would like to expressly thank all former members of the University Council for their work.

The new University Council now has the mandate to advise the Executive Board of the Hochschule Niederrhein on strategic issues and to oversee the management for the next five years.
