Programming, experimenting, designing: HSNR Easter holiday campus

What actually happens when you mix metals together? How do you turn an idea into your own design project? And how do you programme your own web app? Pupils from the 7th grade onwards will find answers to these and many other questions at The Hochschule Niederrhein's (HSNR) Easter holiday campus. From 30 March to 10 April, there will be free workshops on design, chemistry, computer science and natural sciences at the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach campuses.

If you're interested in creative design, you shouldn't miss the Designlab on the Krefeld campus. From 8 to 9 April 2026, high school students will gain practical orientation in the Communication Design and Project and Object Design degree programmes. Together with students and lecturers, they will develop their own small projects, which they will present at the end. During a campus tour, participants can experience how students work in the modern workshops and studios.

IT enthusiasts will also get their money's worth: at the CodeCamp in Mönchengladbach from 30 March to 2 April, young people aged 13 and over will learn the foundation course of web development. Step by step, they will programme their own small games and web apps using HTML and JavaScript. They will also gain exciting insights into topics such as virtual reality and cybersecurity. No previous knowledge is required; the focus is on trial and error, creativity and the joy of programming.

The Easter holiday campus offers several exciting chemistry workshops for young researchers. On 1 April 2026, participants will experiment with metals and solutions in the workshop on inorganic chemistry and discover the foundation course of chemical reactions in a fun way.

Also on 1 April 2026, students from Year 10 onwards will learn how chemical processes are implemented in engineering projects in Technical Chemistry and 3D Printing. They will produce their own components using a 3D printer and experience hands-on technology.

The cosmetics workshop on 8 April 2026 will be colourful and the young people will immerse themselves in the world of beauty products and cosmetic chemistry. They will make their own creams, learn about hair colouring techniques and gain insights into modern laboratories for biotechnology and analytics.

All programmes are free of charge, places are limited and registration is required. Further information on all workshops, dates and registration can be found at: www.hs-niederrhein.de/osterferiencampus
