R(h)einTex textile round table discusses the future of the textile industry in the Lower Rhine region

The Hochschule Niederrhein is hosting the fifth R(h)einTex Textile Roundtable on 16 July 2026 (2.00 pm to 5.00 pm). The event is aimed at companies, associations and interest groups within the textile and clothing industry and offers up-to-date insights into political and economic developments in the sector.

The venue is Building S (Room 301, Webschulstr. 43) at the HSNR in Mönchengladbach. Attendance is free of charge and can take place either in person or online. Registration is open until 5 July 2026 at: https://www.hs-niederrhein.de/niers/#c557537. Enquiries can be sent by email to rheintex(at)hs-niederrhein.de.

The round-table discussion is being organised in collaboration with the Research Institute for Textile and Clothing (FTB), the Niederrhein Institute for Regional and Structural Research (NIERS) and the Competence Centre for Textiles and Logistics (CTL).

The event will centre on two specialist presentations highlighting current developments in politics and academia. These will be followed by a joint discussion session.

First, Alexandra Landsberg (Head of the Department for Sustainable Development, Climate Change, the Circular Economy and Transformation at the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia) will provide insights into the current state of the political debate on extended producer responsibility for textiles in Germany.

Dr Olena Provolotska (NIERS Institute at HSNR) will then present the results of a business survey on the state of the textile industry in the Lower Rhine region, as well as on the industry’s current and future expectations.

The event will be moderated by Prof. Dr Angelika Krehl. In addition to the expert presentations, the R(h)einTex Textile Roundtable offers a space for exchange, discussion and networking within the industry.
