Zaib Azeem from Pakistan receives DAAD Prize 2026 from The Hochschule Niederrhein

Zaib Azeem from Pakistan has been honoured with the DAAD Prize 2026 from The Hochschule Niederrhein for her outstanding academic achievements and her social and intercultural commitment. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) award, which is endowed with 1,000 euros, is presented annually to international students who stand out for their special achievements and commitment.

Zaib Azeem is in the first year of the Master's degree programme "Management of Textile Trade and Technology" taught in English with a specialisation in "Trade and Retail" at the Faculties in Mönchengladbach. Professor Dr Susanne Meyer, President of The Hochschule Niederrhein, praised Azeem's achievements during the award ceremony: "Ms Azeem is not only an outstanding student with a thirst for knowledge and ambition, she is also actively committed to intercultural understanding. She is a shining example of the academic and social contributions of international students at our university."

In addition to her excellent academic achievements, Zaib Azeem is committed to the international community at the university. For example, she organised a Pakistani cultural meeting at her home with two friends, which was attended by students from more than ten countries. She also contributed her culture to the university's International Food Day. She is also involved in the Buddy Programme and helps new international students get started in university life.

Zaib Azeem decided to study in Mönchengladbach after her university teachers / lecturers in Pakistan, who were also studying at HSNR, recommended the university to her. She particularly appreciates the international community, which made it easier for her to get started and which actively supports her today.

The Hochschule Niederrhein awards the DAAD Prize to highlight the achievements of international students and to honour their commitment. The distinction shows how enriching the exchange between students from all over the world can be for the university and society and sets an example for diversity, openness and cultural understanding.
