The Hochschule Niederrhein and Shimonoseki City University in Japan have signed a partnership agreement.

President Susanne Meyer and Vice-President for International Affairs Takaaki Shochi signed the agreement at the end of September.

The first student exchange will be possible from the 2027 summer term.

More than 130 international students gathered on September 25 for the Welcome Day for international students at the Krefeld-Süd and Mönchengladbach campuses.

The programme included a good mix of information relating the start of the semester, networking opportunities and interactive sessions.

A special highlight was a series of presentations by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Düsseldorf, which provided information on networking and support services as well as cultural events, and by the City of Krefeld’s Municipal Integration Management (KIM), which supports people arriving from abroad and presented its wide range of counseling services.

The Centre for Intercultural Education, Internationalisation, and Languages (ZIBIS) and the Welcome Centre wish all students a successful start to their studies and a wonderful time at the university.

From September 8 to 11, the European Association for International Education (EAIE) brought together more than 7,300 participants from over 100 countries in Glasgow to exchange ideas, network, and engage in professional development.

Karla Kaminski and Nina Kohl from the newly founded Center for Intercultural Education, Internationalisation, and Languages (ZIBIS) focused particularly on establishing new partnerships with universities in the United Kingdom.

Exciting discussions were also held with universities from South Korea, Romania, Malaysia, Australia, and other countries.

As soon as the new partnerships are official, ZIBIS will provide an update.
