Business administration (B.A.)

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Short description

Are you interested in current economic topics? Would you like to understand business and economic relationships better?

A basic interest in economic processes is important for studies in business administration and for pursuing a career in the field of economics. Dealing with numbers also plays an important role in most professions - whether in marketing, controlling or logistics.

Due to the fact that companies are increasingly active abroad, work in business is characterised by an international focus. Comprehensive English language skills are therefore required in almost all professions, for example in customer service, when dealing with business partners and suppliers or within the company. As part of our degree programme, we offer you the opportunity to improve your language skills or learn new languages from scratch.

Examples of current topics from the business world

  • How important is the Internet for marketing products?
  • How do the adverts of car manufacturer x differ from those of the telephone company?
  • On what foundation course do trade unions and employers' organisations negotiate collective agreements?
  • What influence do major events such as natural disasters have on the stock market?
  • What causes a mail order company to lay off so many employees?

The professional world that awaits graduates of the Business Administration degree programme is very diverse. Depending on your choice of specialisation, a degree in Business Administration opens up a range of careers in different industries.

This is a major advantage of this degree programme. The typical job profile of a business economist, in contrast to that of a doctor for example, does not exist.

Business economists often take on management tasks in the upper management of companies. They are primarily employed in the planning, control and optimisation of business processes. They can just as easily be employed in purchasing or sales, as well as in finance or personnel management. Academically trained business economists are often employed at the highest level - e.g. in management.
