Mechanical engineering, part-time (B.Eng.)

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Short description

Whether it's computers, cars, electric cookers or medicines - our everyday lives are determined by technology. This means that we are highly dependent on the work of engineers.

Engineers make a significant contribution to the success of our coexistence. Their developments improve communication, transport and supply for people all over the world. Engineers are constantly dealing with the latest trends. They must be open-minded and able to take on responsibility.

Engineering is a technical profession. There are few professions that are as varied as that of an engineer. The job description of engineers ranges from research, design and production, development of new technologies, planning, construction and commissioning as well as optimisation of systems and machines to servicing countless modern systems and processes.

Mechanical engineering combines basic research with development and design, production, maintenance, operation and (dis)assembly of technical systems and products. This specialisation makes use of technical and physical principles.

Mechanical engineers can be employed in various fields. These include

  • Project planning
  • Research and development
  • construction
  • design
  • production
  • Sales and distribution
  • Commissioning

At the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at The Hochschule Niederrhein, the Mechanical Engineering degree programme is divided into two specialisations:

  • Engineering Design and Development
