Short description

Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are able to carry out activities in practice-, organisation- and research-related fields of activity on the basis of scientific knowledge. The studies pursue an empirical-scientific approach by teaching midwifery skills and enabling students to act in an evidence-based obstetric manner. The degree leads to the qualification for admission to a relevant Master's programme.

The content of the studies is based on three specialisations:

  • Foundation course of professional midwifery action
  • Responsibility and management of complex midwifery practice
  • Clinical-practical competences (practical phases)

Access requirements

University entrance qualification
  • Entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (school and practical part)
  • general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
  • higher education entrance qualification obtained abroad
  • other previous education recognised as equivalent (e.g. successfully completed vocational training in healthcare and (paediatric) nursing or as a nursing specialist with three years of professional experience.

Special enrolment requirements
Proof of a contract for academic midwifery training with a cooperating practice partner (list of partners is visible on the faculty's website).
The practice partners carry out a selection procedure independently.

Proof of health suitability and a clean criminal record.

International

Applicants with a foreign higher education entrance qualification require German language skills at level C1 CEF.
