Product Development in Mechanical Engineering (PRIMA), Part-time (M.Sc.)

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Short description

With the internationally recognised M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering , you can solve challenges in research and development. The doors are also open to you in project management or technical sales. In addition, the Master's degree opens up further career options, such as access to a doctorate and the higher civil service.

In the field of mechanical engineering, we offer the advanced Master's degree programme "Product Development in Mechanical Engineering (PRIMA)" in four specialisations: Design, Plastics Engineering, Production and Surface Engineering and Fluid Engineering.

The four-semester degree programme has a modular structure. Each module is completed each semester with an examination and is dedicated to a specific topic. The modules themselves are summarised in module groups, which aim to impart the following skills:

  • Advanced mathematical, scientific and engineering foundation courses (e.g. numerical methods)
  • Advanced engineering applications (e.g. finite element applications)
  • Advanced engineering applications of the specialisation (e.g. fatigue strength verification)
  • Scientific engineering work in small project teams (also interdisciplinary)

In addition, students can deepen their application skills within the framework of two compulsory optional modules according to their thematic inclinations. These compulsory optional modules can also be taken at other faculties of The Hochschule Niederrhein.

The studies conclude with the Master's thesis, which deals with engineering topics, and an oral examination.
