The Central Student Advice Centre will support you and we offer you personal, intensive advice via Zoom or on site in Krefeld or Mönchengladbach. Open, honest and tailored to your questions.

If you have questions about your career choice , you've come to the right place!

In the careers advice centre you can ...

 

  • find out which profession or studies are right for you.
  • clarify questions about the content of an apprenticeship or studies programme.
  • find an internship, apprenticeship or place on a dual studies programme and receive help with the application.
  • find out about the apprenticeship and labour market.

 

Even if you have already completed an apprenticeship and would like to study, we will be happy to advise you.

 

The careers advice service of the Federal Employment Agency is also available for counselling sessions during the study orientation weeks, either in person or by telephone, including via video chat.

Attending Regular Lectures

The Hochschule Niederrhein offers all prospective students the opportunity to attend one or more open lectures. These are regular lectures from the first semesters.

Attending these courses gives you a first impression of the degree programmes. You will get to know lecturers and students and experience the atmosphere at The Hochschule Niederrhein.

It is not the purpose of the taster visit to fully understand the content of the lecture. Rather, use the open lecture to recognise and experience differences to what you are used to at school or in your everyday working life.

Then the Long Evening of Student Advice is the right place for you! In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW), the Central Student Advice Centres of all NRW universities are inviting you to exchange ideas at the same time, including at The Hochschule Niederrhein, of course!

The "Study Orientation Weeks" are a joint initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Science, the Ministry of Schools and Education, the Regional Directorate of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Federal Employment Agency and the NRW universities. The "Study Orientation Weeks 2026 " will take place from 12.01. - 09.02.2026 .

You can expect, among other things:

  • Portfolio consultation appointments for the "Communication Design" and "Product Design" degree programmes at the Krefeld-West campus
  • Information events on the degree programmes from the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology
  • Career counselling on site and digitally by the Federal Employment Agency
  • Exciting open lectures from the faculties
  • Engineering Days on 23 and 24 January: for practical orientation in technical degree programmes
  • Presentations by the central Student Advice Centre on orientation, financing and organisation of studies
  • Campus tours
  • Faculties provide information about their degree programmes
