This year's presentation of the German Hypertension League's science awards at the 50th anniversary symposium

Dr. Lukas Streese and Prof. Dr. Johannes Stegbauer, both from the Department of Nephrology at Düsseldorf University Hospital, receive the sponsorship award for their project "Effects of hypertension therapy on vascular health in patients with hypertension - a randomized controlled trial".

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of exercise therapy as an add-on therapy to blood pressure therapy in accordance with the guidelines on vascular function. The central question is whether improved vascular function is related to adjustments in the cardiorespiratory system or blood pressure. As part of the study, sensitive monitoring of vascular function will be carried out during the course of blood pressure therapy in order to decipher the mechanism of how exercise therapy improves the vascular system in hypertensive patients.
