Dr. Lukas Streese was invited by the German-speaking Society for Arterial Vascular Stiffness (DeGAG) to the annual meeting at the University of Basel last week. Together with Prof. Hanssen, Mr. Streese led the session Retinal Microcirculation - "On Heart and Kidney" and gave a presentation on the physiological foundation course and methods of retinal microcirculation. This session included current results of the BMBF program 'Tandem Niederrhein', in which Mr. Streese is employed both at the Faculty of Health Care of the Hochschule Niederrhein and at the University Hospital in Düsseldorf. In this cooperation, Mr. Streese is investigating the possibility of establishing the measurement of retinal microcirculation as a routine clinical marker in cardiovascular patients.
During the congress, Mr. Streese was distinguished with the Young Investigator Award for his work "Acute effects of table salt or its substitution salt potassium chloride on vascular function in healthy volunteers".
Thank you very much for your help - the young researchers are doing well and producing presentable results.
