euregio campus - Limburg/ Lower Rhine
INTERREG project

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

The "euregio campus - Limburg/Lower Rhine" Project

The INTERREG project "euregio campus - Limburg/ Niederrhein", which was launched on January 1, 2019, aims to make the euregio rhine-maas-north perceived as a cross-border knowledge region and to help further reduce the barrier effect of the border. The project provides for the conception and implementation of a joint marketing concept for the euregional, cross-border knowledge region, an intensification of cooperation between universities in the field of educational offers and the reduction of brain drain through appropriate measures.

Project duration: January 2019 to December 2021

Project funding

The project is sponsored by the European Union, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Dutch province of Limburg.

Objective

The central project objectives are

RAISE AWARENESS: The perception of the euregio rhine-maas-north as an attractive knowledge region is to be increased.

CONNECT: The advantages of studying in a border region are to be identified and further developed. Attractive cross-border programmes are to be developed and made available to students.

CONNECT TO THE REGION: The attractiveness and perception of the euregio as a possible job market and place of residence for graduates should be increased.

The achievement of these goals is to be ensured by three sets of measures:

  • Conceptualization and implementation of a joint marketing concept for the euregional, cross-border knowledge region.
  • Intensification of cooperation between the universities in the field of education. The aim here is to systematically compare the existing studies and further education programs as well as other educational formats of both universities involved in the project, to identify overlaps and to develop joint educational offers.
  • The third set of measures aims to reduce the brain drain and generate a brain gain. To this end, analytical measures, measures to improve matching processes between graduates and regional companies (especially SMEs) and measures to improve the perception of the euregio rhine-maas-north as an attractive job market and place of residence for graduates are planned.

The project is being carried out by NIERS (The Hochschule Niederrhein), Fontys Venlo, the cities of Krefeld, Mönchengladbach and Venlo and the business development agencies from Mönchengladbach and Krefeld.
