On 28 November 2024, Angelika Krehl attended an exciting panel discussion at the structural change conference of the German lignite mining regions in Mönchengladbach entitled Transformation regions as resources. In her input statement, she emphasised three important aspects that a successful transformation requires: Resources, innovation and potential.

The subsequent discussion centred on the phase-out of lignite and the associated structural change. Together with the panellists and workshop participants, various facets of the topic were highlighted in addition to the above-mentioned points, including: intelligent spatial concepts with areas for sustainable business, flexibility paired with perseverance and time.
