Successful promotion at NIERS

NIERS employee Anna Herzog successfully completed her doctorate on 2 November 2022 with her dissertation on "Development paths and structural change in old industrial medium-sized cities: The example of Mönchengladbach".

The doctorate was supervised by Prof Dr Matthias Kiese from the Institute of Geography at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Prof Dr Rüdiger Hamm, the former Director of the Niederrhein Institute for Regional and Structural Research (NIERS).

Anna Herzog has been a research associate at NIERS since 2016 and has since focussed on transformation processes in the local economy and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on local economies.
