Successful start

The kick-off event for the graduate cluster AUFBRUCH took place in Düren on 2 July 2024.

Highlights of the event included the opening of the event by Minister Brandes from the MKW and sub-department head Ms Keppler from the BMBF with inspiring words of welcome about the importance of innovation and structural change. Furthermore, the doctoral students presented their research approaches and engaged in lively discussions with the participants about the challenges and opportunities of a sustainable bioeconomy. In addition to excellent apprenticeships, AUFBRUCH has a strong focus on implementing the knowledge gained in the form of start-ups in the Rhineland mining region. In terms of content, NIERS is researching the regional economic potential of new types of carboxylic acid esters based on locally grown biomass.

NIERS is looking forward to working with the GEMIT colleagues and other partners over the next four years!
