Representatives from migrantorganisations, public regulatory structures, the scientific community and founders were welcomed to the hybrid round.
The Hochschule Niederrhein project teams (SO.CON and NIERS) and migrafrica gGmbH presented the project as a research-practice tandem and explained how the collaboration between research and practice is organised. A research-practice tandem is understood to mean the close interlinking of scientific analysis with practical experience in start-up support. This connection is intended to ensure that the new project results generated using scientific methods also have practical relevance and are thus directly applicable in practical application.
The meeting focussed on the presentation of the newly developed theoretical and conceptual framework, which forms the foundation course for both the scientific and the practical project activities to be developed and tested. The framework brings together theories from different disciplines that address individual and structural barriers, resources and opportunities for women with a history of migration in the start-up context. The intersectional perspective adopted by the project team, which takes into account the interweaving of these different levels, met with great interest among the advisory board participants, as it offered a variety of points of reference to their own experiences. The framework developed will serve as a foundation course for the development of suitable survey instruments to answer the research questions and will also be tested in initial workshop formats.
In addition, the members of the advisory board have asked about opportunities for participation: workshops are planned in the coming months to identify needs and resources on the part of regular public structures and migrant organisations. In addition, interviews will be conducted with founders and representatives of these organisations in order to create a sound foundation course for the development of training and further education materials.
