The research projects R(h)einTex - Recycling through innovation in the textile industry on the Lower Rhine and KlarTEXT invited regional stakeholders to the third exchange of ideas. The aim of the project, which was launched in 2024, is to transfer the textile and clothing industry in the central Lower Rhine region into a real circular economy. Three institutes at The Hochschule Niederrhein are researching the project.
Following the previous round in April at Brother Internationale Industriemaschinen GmbH, the regulars' table was held again at The Hochschule Niederrhein on 26 June 2025. Around 30 participants were present on site and others took part online.
The first presentation was entitled "The foundation course of thermo-mechanical and chemical recycling of PES with an excursion into the ReCoTex and SiWerTEX projects" and was given by Alexandra Glogowsky (The Hochschule Niederrhein) and Dr Mandy Paschetag and Anna-Maria Heidrich (TU Braunschweig). The second topic focussed on the situation of used textiles in Germany. The "BVSE study on the demand, consumption and recycling of textiles in Germany in 2025 (Federal Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Disposal)" was presented by Prof. Dr Markus Muschkiet (Centre Textile Logistics, CTL). More time for discussion was deliberately planned for this event. This resulted in lively discussions - for example on the transfer of recycling research to an industrial scale and on challenges in dealing with used textiles.
