On the International Day against Violence against Women and Girls, 25 November 2025, the hybrid Orange Days kick-off event entitled From Dickpics to Deepfakes - Recognising, naming and acting on digital violence against women will take place at The Hochschule Niederrhein.
The event is organised by the Equal Opportunities Officer of The Hochschule Niederrhein in cooperation with the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and the ZONTA Clubs Krefeld and Krefeld am Rhein.
Kathi Heffe from the non-profit organisation HateAid, an expert on digital violence, will give an insight into current developments, the work of counselling those affected and provide information on strategies for action. The focus will be on the challenge of visualising gender-specific digital violence in its various forms as a real form of violence that must be taken seriously and naming it clearly. The spectrum ranges from supposedly "everyday" assaults to new threats such as AI-generated, often pornographic, deepfakes. A practical orientation excursus shows how digital evidence is created in the form of legally compliant screenshots. In addition, concrete strategies for action are presented that take into account preventative as well as emotional and legal dimensions.
HateAid is a non-profit organisation that educates people about digital violence and develops solutions for a network in which freedom of expression is upheld and participation is made possible. Those affected by digital violence receive individual counselling and legal support from HateAid.
The hybrid format enables both personal participation on site and digital integration via Zoom. The event is free of charge for all participants.
