Dominik Hammer: "Beyond the GerManosphere" - lecture on misogynistic online subcultures
The mannosphere, an online milieu consisting of incels, pick-up artists, men's rights activists, MGTOW, "redpillers" and other organised misogynists, has been active on various online platforms for over a decade. This spectrum is united by the conviction of a fundamental inequality of the sexes and the belief in the superiority of men.
In the study "Mapping the Germanosphere", the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the Cluster of Excellence "Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS)" examined the German-speaking mensosphere, its platforms, actors, strategies, networks and narratives. In a further study, the ITS has analysed the spread of the mannosphere in Central and Eastern Europe. Based on this research, Dominik Hammer, Research Manager at ISD Germany and co-author of these studies, will present the actors and groups in the mannosphere and how they try to address different generations of men.
