Simply Biotechnology - Biotechnology Made Simple

More than just bread and beer

We already use many biotechnologically manufactured products in our everyday lives. Whether it's the bread on the breakfast table or the beer at the weekend: Without biotechnology, these foods would not be possible. But biotechnology can do much more!

Researchers from the Faculties of Chemistry and Textile and Clothing Technology, together with the Cluster industrielle Biotechnologie e.V., will present their work and current research during an afternoon lecture: How do textiles and "bio" go together, how do biocatalysts dope our cells, what do enzymes do in paint chemistry and why is mold beautiful? Prof. Dr. Uta Bergstedt, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Hoffmann-Jacobsen, Dr. Sabrina Kolbe and Prof. Dr. Michaela Wagner will explore these questions. In addition, Dr. Tobia Klement from the Industrial Biotechnology Cluster will present the HiPerIn 2.0 project and young researchers will present their projects with a poster exhibition.

When: Friday, November 25, 2022 from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Where: The Hochschule Niederrhein, Campus Krefeld West, Building O, Shedhalle, Adlerstr. 28-32, Krefeld.

With the lecture afternoon, The Hochschule Niederrhein and the Industrial Biotechnology Cluster provide an exciting insight into current research and invite pupils, students and all interested citizens to get to know biotechnology in a simple yet impressive way.
