Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
Christoph Lohmann

Christoph Lohmann | HSNR 2006 - 2010

Everything done right!

"I would study everything again like that. Today, I am still very satisfied with my career choice and my apprenticeship. The job as a mechanical engineer fulfills me every day anew." Actually, Christoph Lohmann's recollections of his studies could be concluded with this summary. After all, everything has been said. But of course there are many individual pieces of the puzzle behind these words that lead to this assessment.

When he began his studies in mechanical engineering at the Hochschule Niederrhein in 2006, he had no idea where his studies would take him. In any case, the topic of a possible doctorate was not yet on the horizon, nor was it conceivable. Through his activities as a math tutor and the (tutoring) courses with Mrs. Kröpke, however, plans for the future matured in this direction. His math professors had the greatest influence on him during this time. Prof. Schüffler and Prof. Ritter introduced him to scientific work and motivated him to go in the direction of a doctorate and prepared him for it. And so, at the end of his bachelor's degree, there was a clear desire to do a doctorate, which was then combined with a master's degree at the Ruhr University in Bochum. He remembers many formative moments from his time in Krefeld, such as the faculty parties in the refectory, events for first-year students that lasted until late into the evening, discussions in the Faculty Secretariats with Ms. Mühlen (now Ms. Parlevliet) and the tutorial courses on soft skills and presentation techniques, which Christoph Lohmann still uses today. Today he works in the field of gear technology and plain bearings for wind energy at Flender GmbH Winergy in Voerde. This is where Christoph Lohmann has found his fulfillment and sums up his path and his job in conclusion: "It's different and exciting and developing and driving forward new technologies is a great challenge!
