Jannick Adolph | Communication Design 2021

Establishing and expanding creative possibilities

His Bachelor's thesis then looked at noun compound formation in the German language. At first, that sounds a little daunting. Not for Jannick Adolph, however.

Jannick Adolph graduated from the Faculty of Design in 2021. During his time as a student, he took advantage of and tried out the many different opportunities available to him at the Hochschule Niederrhein. This allowed him to build up and expand his creative possibilities. In his Bachelor's thesis, he then looked at the formation of noun composites in the German language. At first, that sounds a little daunting. But not for Jannick Adolph: "Because two nouns can do more. My work is about the potential and understanding of compound nouns. If these terms are understood literally, they enable a different image in the mind. This is exactly the phenomenon I took advantage of for my elaboration." The result was the creation of a brain game with hand-drawn illustrations that uses pictorial wit to cast a new perspective on this type of phenomenon and offer a subtle insight. After all, when the word groundhog comes to mind, people don't necessarily ask why this creature is called that.

Currently, Jannick Adolph is working on his upcoming art exhibition at Haus Greiffenhorst in Krefeld. From March 24 to 26, 2023, he will present his impressive collection of artworks there under his artist name Jodefah, inviting visitors to discover them. The artist describes his work and the exhibits with: "The acrylic works impress with their precision and aesthetics. With different shapes and colors, the result is an impressive interplay that captivates the viewer. The paintings, on the other hand, are richly colored and energetic, through the use of bold and bright colors to convey emotions and moods. The works invite to be discovered. The paintings are often rich in detail and finely nuanced, allowing the viewer to continually discover new facets."

On Friday, March 24, the exhibition will begin with a vernissage from 5 to 7 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the artworks can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. With free admission, you can also meet Jannick Adolph there in person.

And to the degree then still the question, what one thinks with the noun composition "marmot", because with the "marble" the marmot has nothing to do. The word marmot has its origin in the Old High German "murmunto", which comes from the Latin word for the mountain mouse - Mus montis.
