Lisa Marie Bahr is a true homegrown of the Hochschule Niederrhein. In 2012, she began her bachelor's degree in "Design Engineer: Fashion" and graduated in 2019 with a master's degree in "Textile Products: Textiles."

During her studies, Ms. Bahr was already active at the university as a subject tutor and graduate assistant, and remained loyal to the university after completing her master's degree as a research assistant in the research project "Development and Manufacturing Technology of Degradable Film Tape Packaging". In addition, since 2020 she has been completing a doctoral program at The Hochschule Niederrhein in cooperation with the Université Haute-Alsace in Mulhouse, France.

When asked what she has taken away from her studies for her professional life, she answers that she is glad to have learned so many aspects of the textile chain during her studies, such as design, product development and the technical development of textiles. This, she says, has taught her that she can get involved in any area that catches her interest and that trying new ways is always worthwhile. After all, she says, at the beginning of her studies, the doctoral student was not aware of how versatile the textile world and its professional opportunities are, and after her bachelor's degree, she found that the technical aspects appealed to her more.

Today, if the doctoral student could take an additional degree programme, she would choose to study mechanical engineering, as she is sure it would help her work on textile machines, although she is glad that she has already gained a lot of knowledge in this area during her time as a doctoral student so far.

Ms. Bahr describes the many moments during her studies when she was able to meet numerous exciting and great people, some of whom became friends, as her fondest memories. She particularly appreciates how much the diverse perspectives and values of her fellow students, who came from all over Germany and the world, helped her to develop herself.

And when asked what was "typical student" during Lisa Marie Bahr's time at university, it's quite clear: "Enjoying the sun in front of the G-building with a drink from Hoffis during the lecture-free periods."
