Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
Luke Kamp

Lukas Kamp | HSNR 2012 - 2019

All PRIMA

Lukas Kamp studied at the Hochschule Niederrhein from 2012 to 2019, first completing his Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering and then going on to earn a Master of Science PRIMA -

product development in mechanical engineering. Lukas Kamp names no fewer than three people when asked who had a particular influence on him during his studies. First of all, there is Prof. Michael Heber, who teaches design education and plastics technology and took over the mentoring function, and Lukas Kamp also remembers his supervisor Michael Jaschinski fondly and had the right motivator in Karl-Heinz Schüffler, who is now emeritus. Lukas Kamp now works for the Starrag company in Mönchengladbach. The Starrag Group is a technologically leading global manufacturer of precision machine tools for milling, turning, drilling and grinding workpieces made of metal, composite materials and ceramics. He works there as an application engineer in the machine tool engineering department and has assignments around the world, including several weeks in the aerospace industry. That his career path with studies at The Hochschule Niederrhein was his right choice is evident when he is asked what he would study today. The answer is not surprising and was to be expected. It would be mechanical engineering again. Typical of his time as a student is the community. "Supporting each other and having a beer together in between" is how Lukas Kamp describes this sense of community, and he also remembers the working hours in the mechanical workshop and the plastics lab, where he worked as a student assistant. Just how well the community functions was also demonstrated by the support provided to the Formula Student team when the crane in the lab broke down during the lecture-free period and had to be replaced by student muscle power.
