Leberkäse ohne Leberkäse

"I learned teamwork back then at The Hochschule Niederrhein," explains Norman Störl enthusiastically. In 1996, he earned his diploma in visual communication, and he would choose this Degree programme again at any time, because his great interest in it continues to this day.

During his time as a student, Störl was influenced by many things. Whether it was the fact that he had intensive contact with other creative Degree programmes, such as textile and product design, or the diversity of the lecturers. "From design nerds to advertising professionals, everything was there," Störl recalls. He also greatly appreciated the family atmosphere at the university and the mutual support and inspiration, the unique togetherness among the students.

A fellow student who dared to take the step of doing an internship at a large agency in Hamburg encouraged Norman Störl to follow this path as well. This decision changed his entire life. The coaching and support of the university teacher / lecturer at the time, Georg Knichel, also had a decisive influence on him.

Today Norman Störl, who was awarded the distinction of Junior Talent of the Year by the Art Directors Club (ADC) in 1996, is a partner and managing director of his own agency blood actvertising GmbH in Hamburg. The marketing agency places less emphasis on size than on quality. The work focuses on humanity, proximity and sustainability and should also have substance.

Norman Störl has many funny and fond memories of his university days. But one highlight was, of course, his diploma examination and the party that followed. He also remembers drawing the monkeys in the zoo for practice purposes. The students were regularly pelted with excrement by the monkeys and the students tried to fend them off with their drawing boards - sometimes unsuccessfully, however. "It was probably too stupid for the monkeys to always have to serve as animal nude models," adds Störl.

In addition to legendary parties at the university, he also links mussels in mustard sauce at Gleumes and "Leberkäse without Leberkäse" at Blauer Engel to his time as a student. A croque joint on Peters Street was also popular among students at the time. Störl reports, "I felt like I lived on croque monsieur with tartar sauce for two years." A situation he will also never forget was when his buddy Axel ordered "one Croque Paris without suburbs."

For Norman Störl, the fondest memories of his student days are associated with the people he met there, some of whom are still among his closest friends today. He describes his environment at the time as an inspiring melange of people with the most diverse backgrounds, dreams and abilities. For him, the studies were a wonderful and inspiring time.
