Ruth Müssigbrodt | HSNR Electrical Engineering 2010

Technology that inspires

Ruth Müssigbrodt's enthusiasm for technology runs in the family, so to speak, because her father is a professor of electronics, automation and sensor technology at the Hochschule Niederrhein. So it's no wonder that when asked who had a particular influence on her professional career, she first names Prof. Ferdinand Hermanns. However, if you look at her curriculum vitae, you will first find studies in business administration at RWTH Aachen University. This was followed by electrical engineering at the Hochschule Niederrhein.

And it is precisely this combination of business administration and technology that Ruth Müssigbrodt particularly enjoyed as a student. As a member of Formula Student, she not only met and learned to love many of her current colleagues, but also experienced the opportunities available at a university to think outside the box. She was particularly impressed by the collegial interaction between the professors and the students from the different faculties. The students were particularly supported by Prof. Michael Heber and also Prof. Ferdinand Hermanns in their desire to achieve the common goal. Ruth Müssigbrodt also has good memories of the VDE trip to Hamburg and the "camp vacation" with Formula Student in Italy.

When asked whether she would like to study again and what that would be, she says that she would prefer her three children to be able to enjoy studies later on. Looking at her professional career, this is understandable, as she took over the management of Vienco GmbH while still studying electrical engineering. As owner of the family business, she took over in 2012 together with some former fellow students from her time at the Hochschule Niederrhein. Vienco GmbH is a development service provider in the field of control and sensor technology. And as managing director, she can now profitably apply her enthusiasm for business administration and electrical engineering to her own company.
