Sejdi Fazlija

Sejdi Fazlija | HSNR 2013-2016

And lunchtime in the canteen

Sejdi Fazlija's answer to the question of what he would study if he had the choice again and why couldn't be more fitting: "I would study exactly the same thing, because the studies reflect my professional interests 100% and have prepared me very well for the business challenges."

A closer look reveals that the advantages of a university of applied sciences compared to a classic university can be seen in exactly the positive experiences of Sejdi Fazlija: The combination of theory and practice with a high level of application orientation was particularly evident from the fourth semester onward in the in-depth phase. The lecture contents were mostly connected with internships, which then took place directly on campus. The different professors remained well in his memory, additionally also because one always had the possibility to fall back on the network of the professors, if e.g. a position as a working student was looked for. This resulted in various opportunities, not only in the Lower Rhine region, but throughout Germany for the students. Sejdi Fazlija also found the professors' - often longstanding - professional experience in the private sector, a basic requirement for a professorship at a university of applied sciences, helpful, because it meant that the lecture content was usually practice-oriented and very close to current economic events.

He also found the good coffee in the cafeteria and the daily lunch there typical of his student days. Sometimes also with one or the other professor. But the question of why the mathematics lecture had to start at eight o'clock sharp in the morning, while other subjects like HR could start a quarter of an hour later, certainly remains a mystery. Or how it could be that the students had such different answers when comparing the answers given after an examination, when they had all written the same written examination.

Incidentally, Sejdi Fazlija now successfully uses the knowledge and skills he acquired during his studies at The Hochschule Niederrhein as Quality, EHS & Perfect Execution Manager at Emerson Automation Solution.
