About the ONLINE-certificate course

Data science management means the data-driven restructuring and implementation of corporate processes and new business models. Data science is a must for many companies - the question is not "if?", but "how?".
Business models based on data science technologies are disruptive. They are changing companies, markets and practical applications of information management. Concepts such as predictive intelligence are emerging alongside traditional business intelligence approaches. The IT strategy, which was previously successively derived from the business strategy, is thus becoming a "digital business strategy" and must be transferred into tailor-made projects.
In this certificate course, you will learn how to classify current trends in digitalization and data science in your own business context. You will apply the methods and tools presented for developing new processes and business models as well as for managing data science projects directly to individual issues.

On successful completion of the course, you will be able to

  • Classify concepts of IT management in the context of current developments and derive impulses for practical implementation from this.
  • Recognize the importance of reference models of information management and be able to adapt them to the operational context.

Form of teaching and learning

The interactive seminar-style course offers the opportunity to respond to individual questions and problems posed by participants. The self-study phases are supported by an online learning platform. The project assignment with presentation of results enables direct practical transfer. The project assignment is accompanied and digitally supervised by the university teachers / lecturers.

  • Course language: The certificate course is held in German.
  • Participation fee: € 990 | alumni (5% discount) € 940
  • Participation requirements: University degree with at least one year of professional experience or other professionally qualifying degree with at least three years of professional experience. Initial experience in IT projects is desirable.
    You will need an internet-enabled PC or an internet-enabled notebook for Zoom as a video conferencing service and a headset if necessary.
  • Scope (workload): 50 h, of which attendance 24 h, 2 ECTS
  • Degree: University certificate / certificate of attendance
    Participants receive a certificate of attendance if at least 75% of the course is attended. A certificate from The Hochschule Niederrhein is awarded upon passing the examination.
